‘Wrecked on the Intertidal Zone’ (2014 - 2016) - YoHa (UK)
A new digital work by YoHa reflects on their year-long project Wrecked on the Intertidal Zone (2015-), which used digital fabrication, activism and collaborative artistic partnerships with Critical Art Ensemble and others to deliver a dynamic citizen science project exploring the degradation of the Thames, uncovering and highlighting local, situated knowledge about the changing ecological, social and industrial arena of the Thames estuary. Bringing an exploration of the use of digital fabrication tools to collaborations between artists, local ecologists, fishermen, ex-industrialists, engineers, interest groups, and the general public in Southend and Leigh-on-Sea. Presented in this new work for Future Artist Makers on a monitor controlled by a Raspberry Pi programmed to selected randomly from a database of video and still images of the Wrecked on the Intertidal Zone project - to operate as a permanently randomised moving image work that never plays the sequence twice.
